RAMAGE CLOSES (19/4/08)
Ramage Distribution haulage company based in Glespin has went bankrupt with the loss of 350 jobs. The company blamed the situation on fuel prices as well as the loss of some major contracts. This is a serious blow to the village as many residents worked there and now find themselves unemployed.

GLESPIN NEWSLETTER(5/9/07)
Features within the Autumn 2007 Glespin Newsletter are: A new group has been formed to take forward the idea of a community garden in the area of vacant ground in Hillview Crescent. The group working with Clydesdale Community Initiative have organised a public meeting for Thursday 13th September in Glespin Community Hall. It is hoped villagers come along and help with planning the layout and content of the garden. The group have decided upon a time-line theme with different ages which have had an impact on the village such as mining era, impact of monks and lead mining, arrival of the railway ect... It would be appreciated if anyone with knowledge of local history could come along and share this! Games nights have been organised for over 18's in the community hall with darts, dominoes, bowls and skittles. Entry is £1 per person with prizes being issued in each area. Also this years fireworks night will be held on Saturday 10th Nov. Entertainment will be provided by the band "Hell for Leather" and there will be the usual selection of party games with refreshments.
The Tour of Britain Cycle race will pass through Glespin at around noon on Saturday 15th September. There are leaflets available in the village cafe for more information.
